HK Trip Part II

Day 2: Eating and Shopping,

Langham Place provides a free iPad rental during the hotel stay, it comes with maps of the MTR and other travel stuff. .it was quite useful for me, i used it to surf the net and send free internet smses to Kelvin through the m1 website lol..

Dim Sum breakfast @ Mongkok

We went for dim sum breakfast at this famous dim sum place near our hotel, took us about 15 mins to find it..we were there early and when we got there, there was already a queue and the dim sum place haven't even opened yet so it shows how popular this place is haha.

there was a group queueing in front of us and i think they were either Singaporeans or Malaysians..

order chit in chinese

english version, the spelling is hilarious..streamed chicken feet anyone?

coincidentally we were all wearing black flats and no it wasn't planned

Finally after waiting for about 20 minutes, the place opened and we finally got a table..wasted no time in ordering the dishes

chee cheong fun with prawns and char siew..the skin is very soft and melts in your mouth

the har kow was v. good, the skin is so tender and stuffed with so much prawns..mmm i love har kow~

while we were eating, the queue outside became longer and longer..and it was a normal weekday !

after a very filling and satisfying breakfast, we took the MTR to lai chi kok for some shopping..

lai chi kok was abit disappointing, i heard that they sell lots of korean and japanese style clothes there so wanted to check it out..there are alot of tiny shops selling clothes and accessories there but i didnt find much stuff.. plus cannot try so quite hard to buy stuff..most of them are wholesale as well..

i did buy a very pretty korean necklace though for $70 HKD, quite cheap compared to the ones selling at FEP in singapore

After that we headed back to the hotel to rest abit and on the way, we bought the curry fishballs from the street stalls nearby to try.

After that we went to Central to find the H&M store!

there are loads of high end boutiques at Central, saw a huge Coach flagship store there..

Finally found the H&M store at Queen's Road central..was so happy when i saw it

I bought most of my shopping loot from H&M, i think i spent half of the money i changed there haha, got a few tops, dress, scarf, jeans and shirt for Kelvin. Why can't we have H&M in Singapore???

Evening time, we met up with wenbin and we had dinner at some not very nice place (had instant noodles with meat and veggies which was yucks). After that we went up to the Peak..

On the way, we saw alot of office buildings and could see alot of pple still working in the offices..gosh they are workaholics lol.

There was a long queue at the tram station there, we didnt want to queue up for so long so we decided to take a cab up.

View from the peak

After that we tired so decided to head back to the hotel for the day..we took a mini bus (siew bus), was my first time taking the bus. i quite like it, we shd have something like that in singapore instead of our normal single decker buses and double decker buses..it can only seat a certain number of passengers and no standing allowed so you cant board if its full.

we had to transfer to either MTR or ferry and decided to take the ferry from HK island to Kowloon since both cindy and i never tried before heh.

Gorgeous night view of Hong Kong. makes me think of the olden times when people sail to HK and they see the fragrant harbour (aka Hong Kong).

By the time we got back to the hotel, my feet were aching so badly from all the walking we did ( i noticed there are not many seats or benches where u can sit down and rest). i think the only moments we got to sit was when we ate breakfast and dinner lol. Plus our day was so packed and we went to so many places haha.

I soaked my feet in the hot water and it was so shiok.... I fell asleep almost immediately after taking a bath and my head hit the pillow, yes i was that tired ;p
Day 3: More eating and shopping

Tried another dim sum for breakfast at another recommended dim sum place called Dao Xiang, this one was only 5 mins away from the Langham hotel.

Was quite surprised there were so many pple eating there already, hmm the locals really love eating dim sum too

congee with lean meat and century egg

chee cheong fun

Siew Mai

Xiao Long Bao

The dim sum at Dao Xiang was not too bad but I still prefer the dim sum place we went to on our 2nd day ;p

Shopping @ New Town Mall

Eunice was saying that there is a shopping centre where they have alot of trendy stuff and she came here the other time with her colleagues and bought lots of stuff. After searching for abt 30 mins, we finally found the place yay..

it wasnt opened yet although it was almost 12pm so we decided to walk around first before coming back at 1pm..by then, maybe 3/4 of the shops had opened.

I love the place, they have loads of stuff and all very cheap.

Eunice and Cindy bought A LOT of stuff from here, shorts, jeans, tops etc..I also bought a pink cap, pair of brown shoes, acid washed blue jeans and a striped white/blue top which i really liked.

we saw this small food stall at the ground floor selling this noodle snack thingy and a lot of the locals bought it. So Cindy and I also bought one to try while waiting for Eunice, there are different noodles u can choose from and toppings..we tried the crab meat flavoured noodles.

it was not too bad, but i think abit too much MSG haha.

After so much shopping, our legs were aching so we went to a HK cafe nearby to have tea ;) i love their tea, its quite different from the teh in singapore..i think its the milk they use, its different..

dinner @ Monster Sushi

Decided to try the sushi restaurant, Monster Sushi, recommended by Wenbin's sister.

There is one right at the Langham mall near our hotel, when we got there, the queue was damn long already!

It was abt 8pm plus when we got there so we weren't expecting the queue. anyway i tink we waited about close to 1 hour before we managed to get a table inside.

the place only serves mainly sushi and handrolls

soft shell crab handroll

assorted sushi

the sushi was pretty fresh and tasted good but i dont think its really worth the long wait so i dont think i'll go there again next time lol.

my shopping loot from the trip

Day 4:

We wanted to go to a famous breakfast place at Central which sells macaroni and toast set for breakfast but in the end we decided it was too far and too rushed since our flight was in the afternoon at 3pm.

Went to a HK cafe near our hotel instead. Ordered this breakfast set which includes:

1) Instant noodles with ham and veggies (top up HKD 2 to change from macaroni soup)
2) French toast bread with sausages and HK milk tea.

All for only HKD 28 which was pretty cheap!

my breakfast set, was super full after that!

I really enjoyed the trip, was fun to do so much shopping and eat so much good food. it was really a shopping trip more than a holiday, i took about 2 weeks to recover from the trip because of how intensive it was LOL..

Oh yes, here are the Polaroid pics taken by Cindy's Polaroid camera..very cute!
