Do you remember growing up in the 80s and 90s?

- When it was cool for the ah bengs n ah lians to go Sparks, Canto, Fire disco and have tea dances there. And the ah bengs will shout numbers or gang cheers while dancing (with fireball moves) and wore those loud bright clothes like yellow, red etc.

And loved brands like Trussardi, MCM, Versace, Sonia Rykiel, Armani, Moschino (i used to wonder how come the ah bengs/lians were so rich!) And carried branded paper bags around..(i admit i did that too lol, i even saved up to buy a black zipped Valentino wallet with red words)

p/s : now the ah beng lians hang out at dbl o and st james haha.

- When people carried pagers and if you had a memo jazz, you were envied. And when someone called you, you had to find a phone booth to return the call. ( i rem i had 2 pagers, a yellow alcatel one and my memojazz)

- When IRC was the main tool teenagers used to chat online and make friends (i remember Christine and I were hooked on it and even went to the Youth skate park there to pay to use the internet chat there!! We joined channels like #singapore, #1981, #zouk lol)

- When people would go ice skating at JEC and the guys would check out the girls (they called it sian za bor) and vice versa

- When the popular hang out places were Far East Plaza (before there was Level One), Parklane, Centrepoint

- When kids played games like catching, five stones and zero point and video games were not like Wii or PS, but instead small handheld games like Gameboy.

- When school children would read the Young Generation magazine and the chinese "zhi shi bao" (i remember entering the contests and winning blue ballpoint pens!)

- When milk packets came in triangular shaped cartons and there was the original, strawberry and choc flavours.

- When SBS buses were non airconditioned and the seats were red and you could only pay by coins..and later on the red/blue transitlink cards were introduced..now its the EZ link card lol.

- When Mediacorp used to be called SBC and then TCS.

- When children would buy 10/20 cents snacks and tikam games from the mama shop downstairs. (and those silly shiny idol cards with celebrities like Aaron Kwok and Andy Lau on them)

hehe these are some of my memories and looking back, i think they are so much more fun than what the teenagers are doing nowadays!
