This arrived in my mail recently, at first i thought SQ was sending some promotion stuff but was pleasantly surprised to see that it was the silver Krisflyer card! After flying quite a bit recently due to biz travel, i finally got upgraded to Elite Silver status with SQ.
But seriously, the benefits associated with silver status with SQ is quite pathetic. Only get some priority check in and baggage handling, priority waitlist and faster mileage accruals. No airline access or anything. Compared to other airline rewards systems, i think it lags far behind.
On that topic, i find that SQ really needs to improve on a lot of areas actually. While their service is generally ok, their food is really mediocre and their in flight system is really outdated! Other airlines are using touch screen flight monitors and they are still using the crappy hand held controller which is hard to use on many of their flights. Also, most of the established airlines give great amenity kits for business and first class (some even for economy like Emirates and Turkish Airlines) but SQ is only giving our amenity kits for first class only! I read somewhere they would rather spend the $ on other areas but seriously they should start asking themselves what do the customers want instead of assuming. Probaly its high time their marketing dept did something like a market survey!!
