Furama Riverfront @ The Square - Dinner buffet review

Recently tried the dinner buffet at the Furama Riverfront @ The Square with Christine and Sha. 

It was sort of a joint birthday celebration as both Christine and my birthdays are in March ^^ Christine had some voucher from Prudential so the buffet was half price or something.

Never been to the Furama Riverfront hotel before and there isnt really any nearby MRT so i took a cab there lol.

Our table for the evening! Sharon was late cuz she was held up at work so we started the buffet first haha.

The seafood selection wasn't too bad, the prawns were my favourite! The prawns were very fresh and the flesh was very firm. Took quite a few servings of it.

What is a buffet without sashimi?? They only had 2 types though - Tuna and Salmon. I'm not supposed to eat raw salmon but Christine was tempting me cuz she was saying the salmon was very fresh and good so in the end i couldnt resist and took a couple of slices haha. True enough, it was indeed very yummy!

Cold cuts and salad selection

The cold cuts and ready made salads didnt really look very appetizing so i didnt touch any of those.

Mix your own salad - i always take this because it makes me feel less guilty when i eat this at buffets lol.

Hot Food selection - there was salted egg yolk crabs, prawns and some other chinese food dishes. Didnt interest me much so i didnt take pics of it lol.

There was also Taiwanese porridge with condiments such as caixin, peanuts etc - i took a small serving, somehow porridge always gives me such a homey feeling haha..

Cheese - i found the cheese selection quite pathetic frankly, didnt look very fresh also

Hot Drinks - There were pots of freshly brewed coffee and tea at the buffet.

What i really liked was this handy Local Teh/Kopi guide! It shows you how to make your favourite Teh Si, Teh Siew Dai, Kopi O Siew Dai etc hahaha.  

Super local man..i think if the foreigners see this they will be like err what is this? Lol..i tried making my own cup of Teh Si but it didnt really taste that great though. Cant beat the Teh Si Po which i always get from Wang's when i go into office hahaha

Desserts  - the selection was fairly small.

Overall, i would say the buffet was fairly decent but I wasnt really wowed by it. I've been to much better buffets but given the affordable pricing, i would say its a buffet which you can go once in a while! 

We found out that even without the voucher which Christine got from Prudential, there was also a promo and the buffet was only $37++ with one glass of sparkling juice, $38++ with free flow of sparkling juice or $44++ with one glass of sparkling wine, house pour wine or beer. That's really quite cheap!

Happy birthday to me!

Feel like its been ages since i last blogged, have been so busy at work and everything that i havent had the time to actually sit still and write something.

I'm hitting the big 35 this year and gosh i cant believe im in my mid 30s! For goodness sake, it sounds like so old >.< Luckily i dont look so old (haha i know im so bhb) and i think its becuz inside, i still feel like im in my 20s. Still trying to find my way in life, career etc.

I've seriously been thinking about my work because alot has been happening at work and i feel so tired from all the late night calls,the incessant projects and things that keep popping up. To add to that, im having serious issues with my "new" lao ban and that is the really the main reason why i have been feeling very demotivated at work recently.  I cant work for someone who does not respect people, only farms out work to her team to do and doesnt support her team. There is only so much shit i can take from her..Even though im very reluctant to look out, i feel that im at the point in my career where i need to seriously think what i want to do in the future from here.

So i've written down all options and i hope that God will show me the way to go from here. I need to stop thinking about what might happen and the what ifs etc and just do it. Regardless of what happens, i pray and trust God that this will be His plan for me. 

My immediate goals for now is to sign up for a new exercise course with my colleague and to learn how to develop an app. Also,I want to build up my stock portfolio and maybe do more aggresive investing so that i can increase my passive income from dividends.

I've been so blessed with having so many good friends, family and hubby around me who really care for me and having everyone around me being so nice to me makes me feel so lucky. Even though my birthday is only tomorrow,i've already had a few birthday celebrations in advance with my cousins (yummy buffet at Grand Hyatt), colleagues (we had a staycation at W sentosa,more to come on that!) etc. I truly am very thankful to my loved ones!  

Also, i'm thankful for the little things in life. Like for today, being able to take a day off for my birthday and pamper myself by going for a massage, doing some shopping and having a nice dinner with Sharon and Christine later.  Tomorrow will be meeting Syn Min for lunch and also celebrating with Kelvin and his friends for dinner followed by KTV. Sunday will be celebrating with family!

No matter what happens at work, i will not let it affect me because I know im so much stronger than that and will survive!! 

Quincy Hotel

Yay we booked a room at Quincy Hotel for my upcoming birthday in March.

I looked up the net about Quincy Hotel and apparently it is ranked first in “The Trendiest Hotel in Asia” and seventh in the “Top 10 Trendiest Hotel in the World” by the 2011 TripAdvisor® Travelers’ Choice® awards.

Have always wanted to try out this boutique hotel cuz our friends booked a room before and i was quite impressed when i found out the stay includes free meals all day, free minibar which is replenished daily and best of all, they have Molton Brown toiletries! How to beat that right??

Thanks to all my dear friends/family who sent me birthday sms and gifts and treated me for lunch!! so touched..i got new clothes, Lancome perfume, makeup, skin care..

Of course, not forgetting my dearest Kelvin who took the day off on my bday and treated me for intl buffet lunch at Holiday Inn Orchard City Centre (formerly Holiday Inn Park View).

After lunch, we went to the bridal studio to check out the studio and tried on a couple of wedding gowns. We booked the date for our 1st appointment for the official trying of the gowns and our photoshoot will be ard June/July ;p

Met up with my bro and Limin for dinner at Gallery Hotel. We had ramen and gyozas at the jap restaurant there (Miharu), the ramen was ok only though...I still prefer the ramen at The Central and Taka!











I cant imagine that im going to hit 30 soon, i still feel like im around 23 or 25 lol. IMO, i think you are only as old as you feel so its important to feel young ^^

Sheesh, I am officially old now haha.

I had a wonderful birthday celebration yesterday with Kelvin. Thank you for the super fab present, I absolutely love it!! I feel so bad that he spent so much money but i promise no more presents for this yr haha..This shall be my 5th yr anniversary, cum birthday, cum xmas present for 2008! haha



We had a great dinner at Greenhouse at Ritz, the buffet food was good. The service was of course, befitting one for a 6 star hotel lol.

Next was dessert, cuz we were so full by then..i tell you, we eat buffets really not worth it..we cant eat alot, abit of a waste of the money lol..but Kelvin said nvm lah, we only eat such at such nice restuarants once in a long while!!Not everyday mah rite??lol

I was talking happily with Kelvin when suddenly i realized he had this weird look in his eyes and he was looking behind me. Before i knew it, the band started playing the Happy Birthday song and then two waiters holding this cake with a candle lit started singing Happy Bday to me!! The rest of the guests joined in tog with Kelvin, so paiseh!! haha



hehe we tot that the chef spelt my name wrongly or something and we asked the waiter what did tete mean (was it another customer's bday haha). Then the waiter came back and said, that tete meant "darling" in another language lol..well at i hope its true lol

Went home with a v full stomach and super sleepy, but had a really enjoyable day. It wasnt memorable becuz i got such a wonderful gift and that we had a nice dinner, but the fact that I know that i got such a good bf who treats me so nice and is willing to spoil me once in a while to make me happy!

Dont worry i'll buy you something v.nice soon i promise!
