Shangri La Valley Wing Review

Snagged a staycation package at Shangri-la Valley Wing during the Traveloka EPIC sales in April and what a great deal it was!
After applying all the promo codes and using $10 srv vouchers balance which I had, I only ended up paying $246 for the stay at Shangri La Valley Wing Deluxe Room which includes breakfast, afternoon tea and evening canapés with champagne (which one can drink yourself silly the whole day!)


I called beforehand to confirm early checkin was available and we arrived at the hotel around 11am. 
The hotel lobby was very grand looking with all the resplendent chandeliers and exuded old school glamour.
The check in process was very straight forward and efficient. The check in staff explained about the lounge benefits (alcohol drinks all day!) however sadly they also told us that minibar was no longer available (I think due to cost cutting measures!) however we could help ourselves to the drinks all day at the lounge area.

The valley wing deluxe room was gorgeous and super spacious. Even though it was a little dated and in serious need for a refresh, the overall ambience was pretty OK and I liked the bathroom which was twice as large as my home bathroom complete with a soaking bath tub and Loccitane toiletries provided!  




My mum and I really had an enjoyable time at the valley wing lounge.

After getting a table in the lounge area, we had 2 glasses of champagne which was served with small side plates of cocktail nuts, popcorn and chips (which went really well with all the champagne lol).

The afternoon tea set came with scones and sandwiches as well as pastries. I think the food was so so to be honest though, maybe I had too high expectations haha.



Soon after, Kelvin came by at the hotel to drop Chloe off after her preschool ended haha.

The hotel staff were very nice and gave her a kids goodie bag which came with a squirrel mascot toy along with other toys and snacks/drinks for kids! At the same time it was evening canapés time and they served some light snacks (sushi with satay and some other fried items) and I ordered another glass of champage 🥰



Breakfast the next morning was served in the summit room and it was such a decadent experience! 



We ordered 3 sets including the toast set which came with soft boiled eggs topped off with caviar and bikini sandwich with parma ham as well as the porridge set which was super delicious.

After breakfast we explored the hotel surrounding area and checked out the Orchid garden which had many varieties of beautiful orchids inside the structure.

Soon it was time to check out. I really had a great time during out stay at the Shangri la Valley Wing and I think after this stay, it really spoiled me! Will be back soon for another stay in Nov (booked using the Citi Prestige promo) and I'm really looking forward to coming back!

Black Friday sales - AccorHotels promo

Just nabbed a Good Friday sales promo on AccorHotels (40% off) and booked a hotel staycation at So Sofitel Singapore for only $185!

With taxes it came up to around $200 which is a pretty good deal given it includes breakfast.

Hotel Rendezvous Staycation

I'm not a very lucky person but somehow, I won a free night's stay at the Rendezvous Hotel in Singapore last year >.<

Always pass by the hotel whenever we watch movies at The Cathay so finally I got the chance to try out staying at the hotel! Its located at the Dhoby Ghaut area (near selegie/parklane) and very near to the mrt station.

Recently the hotel went through some refurbishments and i must say it looks much better now after the refresh!

We checked in and managed to get our room pretty quickly. The hotel offered us a room upgrade at a minimal price and we decided to take it up so that we could enjoy the club room facilities at the same time.

Our room was located on the 11th floor (where the lounge was), check out the bling bling!

Tadah! Our comfy club room ^^ The warm ambient lighting in the room made it look very cozy and comfortable.

The hotel room was nicely decorated with art pieces, i found the flatscreen TV a tad too small though! There was a free mobile phone which guests could use during their stay in Singapore, which I think tourists would find very convenient! Think you can use the data only (no voice calls) .

The upgraded room was massive with loads of space for the wardrobe and living room area.

Hotel toiletries was from Fresh Artistry, not sure what brand that is haa

The bathtub was awesome! And the view, look at that!

Club lounge

We got to use the club room lounge at all times during the day which was a good perk. Anytime you feel like having a drink, can pop in and grab some soft drinks or make a cuppa hot coffee/tea!

Fridge with cold drinks, the selection was fairly limited though. Not a big fan of Pepsi, would prefer Coke anytime!

Didnt do much during the staycation, mostly just rested in the room and at night, we caught a movie at The Cathay with our friends. Overall, i think the hotel stay was reasonably ok, but nothing wow. Breakfast was very normal, wouldnt say its fantasitc.

I would say the perks of the hotel are definitely the lounge access and the fact that the room was pretty good sized. I probably would not stay there again unless i get another free stay hahaha.

W Hotel Staycation, Singapore - hotel review

My ex-colleagues and I decided to do something special in March to celebrate my colleague finishing her diploma course and decided to go for a Sentosa staycation to celebrate! I love staycations ;)

We decided on W hotel, heard it was a very nice hotel to stay at compared to other hotels in Sentosa. I've tried before Hard Rock Hotel and Hotel Michael, they were pretty ok but nothing fantastic though. So thought we should just splurge and spend a little bit more to try out the W hotel, which is a starwood preferred hotel.

We met at vivocity to buy some drinks first and then took a cab to the hotel.

Good morning W!

we arrived early and it wasnt time to check in yet so we took a walk around the hotel area to check out its facilities. The view of the marina was beautiful ;)

lots of rich pple staying in SG! look at the boats they own..bet most of them are ang mohs lol.

Finally, it was time to check in, we found out they had upgraded us to a room on a higher floor. When we walked in, i was super surprised!

it was a early birthday surprise arranged by my dear ex colleagues!! they had decorated the room with brightly colored balloons and a cute birthday sign..super touched man!

W hotel uses bliss toiletries, i thought the smell of the shampoo/conditioner was abit weird and not really to my liking though haha.

After settling in, we went for lunch at a nearby italian restaurant. After that, we decided to check out the hotel spa facilities at the W hotel.

For dinner, we took the hotel shuttle and headed to a HK cafe at the RWS hotel resort area and had some dim sum with other dishes. The food was ok i guess..but nothing fantastic haha. We walked around the musical fountain area and the shops there, saw some lighting show from the Universal Studios while we were there also.

After coming back to the hotel, we decided to go to the WooBar to redeem my complimentary cake voucher that the hotel had provided for our stay which was a nice gesture :)

happy smiles all around, thank you my dear friends for celebrating my birthday with me! even though we are no longer working at the same company together, im happy that we still keep in close contact and meet up and have fun together whenever we meetup. i know it wasnt easy for my ex colleagues to get away from their kids for 1 night so really blessed u guys made the arrangements with your hubbies!

Breakfast

breakfast was a sumptuous affair, really impressed by the variety there!

they had an asian noodle selection where you could order laksa and other mees

After a filling breakfast,we headed back to the hotel room to nua for a while more before it was time to check out haha.  The room was so comfortable, really didnt want to leave :(
