Ang mohs are more aggressive and in your face. They don't care what you think and won't hesitate to tell you off. They are like, you know i don't care if you don't like me. I think from young they are taught to be confident and bold. Just speak whatever is on your mind, doesn't matter if you are right or wrong. They are not so concerned about the small details. When they talk to other people, they may sometimes use slightly harsh/strong words. To us, they may come across as rude or unfriendly but to them, maybe its just their way of talking. They like to say how are you but somehow it seems they are not really interested in the answer. They have a way of talking that makes them seem impressive and on top of things.
For chinese, we are more politically correct and sensitive. We are more like "what if this and that" and worried about everything in general. If there is an issue, we would try to put across our thoughts in a more diplomatic way in case we offend people. If people say something to us which is harsh, we will think about it the whole day. And yes, we are more quiet. There isn't anything wrong with being quiet, just because we don't talk loudly doesn't mean that we don't have any opinion. I guess you can say we just have a different way of expressing ourselves? Sometimes we know our facts well but lose out cuz we just can't express it in a confident/impressive way so we lose out in this aspect. We spend too much time thinking about whether people like us that we forget that when we go work to earn $ and not to make friends.
This is of course generalizing and everybody is different. But one point to takeaway, maybe we should learn from the ang mohs and be more confident in everything we do. It might be less tiring not having to think so much about what people think of you? Food for thought.
